The ten-storey office building is located in an exclusive part of Frankfurt’s Westend district. After 16 years of use it is clearly in need of maintenance. It will receive new cladding and will now take the form of a stone cube into which a large window is inserted on each side, running the entire length of the building across all the main storeys. In the interests of a clear shape the previously concave corners of the building will be closed. The building re-interprets the structure of the neighboring facade, especially in the coffering of the windows. Two office axes at a time are bundled by metal frame jutting out about 300 millimeters in front of the façade. Although the building’s volume is basically retained, thanks to a re-organization of the ground-floor plans it is rendered more efficient. The total area for use is increased by roughly 700 square meters. Access is via a two-storey foyer on the ground floor, which also acts as entrance hall to the conference zone. A set of elevators provides access to the two underground car park levels. The layout is configured on a modular grid of 1.35 meters permitting division into offices for one or several persons.
